A New Home

Coming from a long time of development through my high school experiences, getting into Ateneo is definitely going to be a new experience for me. I’ll be meeting new people, professors, and connections that I’ll be able to socially grow with in the upcoming years. I originally wanted to join Ateneo because of my father. It was his wish that I get into his dream school to carry the torch of the family as the eldest sibling. I had the opportunity to be more than what I was; so I jumped at the chance of being an Atenean.

I had hoped to pass the standards for a course that I’ve had my eye on for quite some time: BS COMSCI. Tried as I might have, God had different plans for me which led me to BS COMTECH. I was tech savvy, business-minded, and had the thirst for knowledge. Although it’s not too far apart from my dream course, I can’t complain about getting into one of the best universities in the Philippines.

My study habits aren’t messy, but they aren’t necessarily neat either. I’m sure that college life would require me to be more organized in how I deal with things, but safe to say, I’m doing alright so far. Hopefully in the future, I’d stop postponing making a calendar or a schedule to deal with things (I’m really bad at making schedules).

As cliché as it is to say; I love to exercise, play videogames, watch anime, and create media with platforms like Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, and Da Vinci Resolve. These don’t really sound like much, but it develops my social skills, my communication networks, my creativity, logical thinking skills, and my workflow style.

To make the most of my stay in the Ateneo, I want to be able to make friends and establish social connections with my peers. Because quarantine makes it challenging to do so, I have to take the first step in building my foundations so I can make an impact towards the community. I have to take initiative in the times where it’s needed. During the early years in college, I have to find the balance between fun and studying. I can’t mix the two together, nor can I completely separate them. I have to recognize my situations and adapt accordingly.

Sometimes, finding the right mix between the two can lead to even better results than usual!
